Here are a few insights into magnesium.
It is the fourth most abundant mineral in our body and is necessary for over 350 body functions.
If we dont have sufficient magnesium, one or more of those 350+ body functions could not perform well and give us symptoms.
Magnesium is necessary for our muscles to relax and we need to relax to sleep.
When we get stressed, like in a “Fight or Flight” situation, calcium enters our cells, When it is time to relax from that stress, calcium leaves and magnesium enters in. Read this article for more detail. www.calmnatural.com/magnesiumcalciumstress
The more stressed you are, the more magnesium your body will use. Illness will bring on more stress because you worry a lot about your future, finances, etc.
Drugs, alcohol and pharmaceutical drugs also deplete magnesium. The requirements formagnesium goes up, the more medications one is taking.
If your body needs more magnesium (e.g. for your blood or heart), it will take it from your muscles (this is partly what causes symptoms like fibromyalgia ) and put it to the more critical areas.
Your brain uses a lot of magnesium; the more you think and use your brain, the more magnesium you use up.
It is really hard to tell medically whether or not you have enough magnesium and we believe the only way to tell is by symptoms and logic.
You cant get too much magnesium (unless you have bad kidneys) and any excess will go to your colon and hydrate it. (I.e. you will experience loose stools.)
Most laxatives use a cheap form of magnesium as their main ingredient. We recommend Natural Calm as it is highly bio-available and will be absorbed by your body until you at the excess level. After that it can help deal with your constipation. Most tablets are only 30-40% bio-available, but Natural Calm is around 80% bio-available.
With everything you are telling me, I would suggest you slowly increase your magnesium intake until your bowels are comfortably loose. Then you will know you are at the optimum level.
Magnesium is not the total answer, but magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral and is not that plentiful in our foods. (read more here) It is water soluble so most of it disappears as our foods become more and more processed. Magnesium is vital to our health so we really believe that magnesium deficiency is the basis for a lot of ailments. Though it is not the answer to everything, it definitely isa good place to start.
Part of your answer also is exercise, positive mental health, and spiritual connectedness (beingat peace with yourself, those around you, and any spiritual being you may believe in).
