Will Natural Calm Stimulate You and Keep You Awake?
Author : GeorgeQuestion:
I recently bought Natural Calm at a local health food store. On the advice of an MD, I was told
to get liquid magnesium for several health concerns I have. I took it as advised at bedtime,
and instead of calming, I felt stimulated. I did not eat or drink anything else that could have
affected me in that way. I did not get the sleep I needed that night, and am afraid to take it again.
My husband said to try it during the day, but I am afraid that it might actually work when I don’t
want/need it to. Have any thoughts or suggestions?
Answer:
I personally had the exact same reaction. For a period of time (around 3 months) I took it in the morning and it still did help me sleep at night, but it did not make me drowsy in the day time. It gave me energy instead. I now take it at night before I go to bed.
Magnesium is necessary for over 300 bodily functions and most people are
deficient in magnesium. One major function that magnesium is necessary for is the ability to relax. When your muscles contract, it requires calcium for that process to take place; when your muscles relax, it requires magnesium for that process to take place. When athletes exercise real hard, they deplete their minerals. Magnesium is one of the first minerals to be depleted and when they run out of magnesium, they often experience cramping in their muscles, for example.
If I yelled “Danger”, calcium would enter your cells and your body would go into a “fight or flight” situation. Your body is now “stressed”. When the danger has passed, the calcium would leave your cells and magnesium would enter your cells allowing you to relax. If you don’t have enough available magnesium, then your body can’t really
relax and de-stress. This is the state many people are in; they don’t have enough magnesium to relax and we need to relax to have a
great night’s sleep. Eighty percent of people find that they obtain a better sleep when they take Natural Calm before they go to bed because it helps them to relax.
Magnesium is also necessary for our cells to be able to transport energy. The magnesium helps the cell to “go” and is like the spark plug of a car. We need our “engine” to “fire” on all cylinders. So magnesium will give us energy.
We suggest that people take Natural Calm at night half an hour hour before going to bed on an empty stomach. This is for a few reasons. Magnesium (actually all minerals) needs to be in an acidic form to be absorbed into our bodies. Natural Calm is pH balanced to allow you to absorb the magnesium. If you have food in your stomach, that food could change the pH, lowering the amount of magnesium that is available to your body. Most people have no food in their stomach half an hour hour before bed and they are not going to eat after that. Also, drinking Natural Calm half an hour hour before going to bed will help you obtain magnesium in your system right before bed so your body can use it to relax and help you sleep. So the best time, we believe is half an hour hour before bed
when you are looking for an effective
insomnia remedy.
You can take Natural Calm anytime. Taking it on a full stomach is better than not taking it at all. If you eat breakfast at 8am and lunch at noon, you could try taking it at 11am.
Once you take Natural Calm for a while, and you build up your stores to a good level, you will find that it will most likely not keep you awake at night.
